Today in class, I found many speculations of Jesus’ context intriguing: 1) Romans overlooking the temple, especially during Passover–God’s freeing them from bondage; 2) Why they never mentioned John the Baptist and Jesus being cousins; 3) “altering of the mind in 40 day fast is as deep as historians want to go in Jesus’ meeting with the devil; 4) Didn’t point out that Herod cut off John the Baptist’s head due to request from Herodias’ daughter; and 5) Back-handed vs. front-handed slapping of the cheek’s social connotations.
